The 2018 soccer season will continue for Fairbanks’ boys after Wednesday’s action.
The Panthers, who are the No. 3 seed, scored a 3-0 victory over No. 20 Delaware Christian during a Division III sectional finals match.
FHS tallied its first goal midway through the opening half.
Dylan Tobe scored off a cross from Michael Kutz.
The opposing keepers kept their nets clean for the remainder of the half.
As a result, Fairbanks (9-8-1) took a 1-0 edge into the turn.
The second half was more of the same, with the Panthers controlling ball possession and goal-scoring opportunities.
Midway through the session, Tobe played a ball across for Ayden Adams.
Adam’s goal put FHS up by a 2-0 count.
A few minutes later, the pair repeated the process for the final score.
Weston Lorenz finished with two saves in the net.
“The boys have worked hard and prepared to get themselves ready for tournament season,” said coach Matt Humphrey. “It has been special for the coaches to watch the development of this group of players.”
Fairbanks will return to action at Johnstown (No. 3 seed) on Tuesday.
The district semifinal match will kick off at 7 p.m.
“We are ready to get out there Tuesday for another test against a team that is very dangerous offensively,” said Humphrey.
