Fairbanks High School senior MacKenleigh Greene will continue her academic and softball careers on the next level.
Greene, an outfielder for the Lady Panthers, recently signed to play for Edison State Community College.
Greene came to the attention of the Edison coaching staff through her connection with former Triad High School pitcher Maddy Collier, who plays for the school that is located in Piqua.
“MacKenleigh is friends with Maddy Collier,” said FHS head coach Amy Sines. “She (Collier) told the Edison coaches about MacKenleigh and that’s how they got connected.”
Greene earned two varsity letters for Fairbanks and had solid hitting stats for both her junior and senior campaigns.
She hit .341 as a junior with seven RBIs and four stolen bases.
Her recently-completed senior season was even better.
Greene, who will study nursing, finished with a .375 batting average and drove in 13 runs.
She scored 11 runs and stole three bases.
Along the way this spring, Greene earned honorable mention accolades in the Ohio Heritage Conference and in the Central District.
“I am so proud of MacKenleigh and the hard work she has put in to be able to further her softball career,” said Sines. “She had an outstanding senior year and I couldn’t be more happy for her.”
