The first day of the Central and Southwest District track meets is in the books and the Fairbanks Panthers will be moving on to regionals.
The Lady Panthers’ 4×800-meter relay team of Amelia Cameron, Linsey Eddy, Addie Thrush and Rachel Hoover took second place in the district race with a time of 10:20.
The top four teams will move on to the regional meet.
The Panthers also had a pair of throwers make it through the Division III district meet.
Bryant Fannin had a toss of 136-5 in the discus to take second place, while Billy Reed-Bodey hurled the shot 45-1.5 to finish as runner-up.
The top nine distances advanced in both events.
In the running events, the Lady Panthers advanced several runners to the finals that will take place Saturday at Granville High School. Those events are as follows:
-100-meter dash: Kinley Green, 13.06;
-100-meter hurdles: Macy Miller, 15.48;
-4×200-meter relay: Green, Thrush, Eddy, Kate Coy, fourth, 1:54;
-4×100-meter relay: Coy, Sarah Arend, Meghan Wagner, Eddy, third, 54.26;
-400-meter dash: Thrush, eighth, 1:06;
-300-meter hurdles: Miller, fourth, 50.1;
-800-meter run: Hoover, second, 2:30;
-200-meter dash: Green, Fairbanks, 27.24.
In the Division III Southwest District, Cayla Eaton will represent Triad in the finals in the 300-meter hurdles.
She qualified for the finals by taking the last spot, eighth place, in the preliminary race with a time of 50.91.
In the Division II Central District meet at Westerville North High School, Jonathan Alder will be moving on to the regionals in the girls discus and the boys 4×800-meter relay.
Kayla Fryman finished a toss of 97-1 to take seventh place, while the relay team of Jonas Watkins, Matthew Perkey, Sergey Dutt and Colyn McDaniel took fourth place in 8:27.
North Union, which is also competing at the D-II district meet, saw Ricky Weigand advance in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles.
He finished sixth with a time of 17.33 in the 110 and fifth at 44.18 in the 300.
The top eight times qualified for the finals.
Cameron Jewell of Jon Alder finished the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.0 to take seventh place.
The Pioneers boys’ 4×400-meter relay team of Michael Conley, Taber Headings, Jonas Watkins and Matthew Perkey advanced to Saturday’s finals with a sixth-place prelim finish in 3:41.
The three meets will conclude Saturday.
