The Fairbanks High School varsity boys soccer team tallied three goals in both the first and second halves on Thursday.
As a result, the Panthers (5-7-1) cruised to a 6-0 non-conference victory over Columbus Bishop Ready.
FHS, which will host Southeastern for Senior Day on Saturday, controlled field position and ball possession for much of the 80-minute contest.
The Panthers outshot the Silver Knights, 21-2.
However, the number of attempts was not as important in coach Matt Humphrey’s mind.
“We’re finally getting to the point of putting the ball in the back of the net on the scoring opportunities we create,” he said. “We’re not as concerned about the number of shots we take, but how many we make.”
The Panthers spread the offensive wealth around as five different players tallied single goals.
Scoring for Fairbanks were Cade Feller, Sam Keller, Austin Becker, Jeremy Ziegler and Brendan Baker.
The other FHS score was on an own goal by Ready.
Weston Lorenz and Cade Ziegler split halves in the net for Fairbanks.
They each were credited with one save.
“Our defense did a great job of keeping Ready from shot attempts,” said Humphrey.
