Fairbanks’ girls soccer team set the tone early and rolled to an easy 10-0 victory over Marion Pleasant in Division III tournament competition on Tuesday.
Samantha Adkins gave the Lady Panthers the early lead with a goal three minutes into the contest. It was the first of her four goals for the day.
Fairbanks controlled field position and ball possession for the entire first half.
Spartan keeper Faith Rourke was kept quite busy as she was bombarded with a number of Lady Panther shots on goal.
Still, it took FHS a little more than 19 minutes to score its next goal.
Emma Cook’s shot gave the Lady Panthers a 2-0 lead.
The margin expanded to 3-0 with 14:11 remaining in the half,
Kayla Green got the ball on a rebound and scooted it past Rourke for the score.
The Lady Panthers then took a 4-0 margin into the intermission when Olivia Madden scored with 1:56 remaining until the break.
Joelle Ziegler, Sarah Young and Megan Olson each added goals during the second half as the Lady Panthers improved their record to 12-2-3.
Fairbanks (the No. 3 seed), which will host No. 5 Worthington Christian on Thursday at 5 p.m., outshot the Spartans 37-0.
Jonathan Alder’s boys soccer team scored a 5-0 victory over Heath on Tuesday.
The victory came during the Division II tournament opener.
The Pioneers (9-8-5), who are the No. 12 seed, will travel to No. 8 Columbus Beechcroft on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest.
