FHS relay team wins district


Fairbanks’ girls 4 x 800 relay team won the Division III district championship on Tuesday.
The foursome of Kaidie Carstensen, Kalor Greve, Adeline Fitzwater and Kayla Green claimed the title with a time of 10:14.
The boys’ 4 x 800 team of Alex Adkins, Ben Macklin, Trey Good and Aiden Groves placed sixth in 8:52.
Several FHS athletes qualified for Saturday’s finals.
They are in the following events:
-Boys 100 dash: Beau Sloan, 11.2 (second);
-Boys 110 hurdles: Nate Timmons and Will Findley (first and third fastest qualifiers) 16.2 and 16.7;
-Girls 4 x 200: (Green, Coree Gifford, Samantha Adkins, Kasey Carstensen), fourth fastest time, 1:53;
-Boys 4 x 200: (Sloan, Timmons, Will Cochrane, Zach Stewart), top qualifying time, 1:33.1;
-Boys 1600: Groves, 4:58, Jeremy Ziegler, 5:12;
-Girls 400: Gifford, sixth fastest, 65.66;
-Boys 400: Kyle Craig and Adkins, fifth and sixth fastest times, 53.31 and 54.02;
-Girls 300 hurdles: Green, fourth fastest, 48.23;
-Boys 300 hurdles: Timmons and Findley, first and eighth fastest times, 42.6 and 45.3;
-Girls 800: Kaidie Carstensen and Fitzwater, 2:46 and 2:34;
-Boys 800: Macklin, no time reported.
The meet was called by weather at 10 p.m.
The boys 200 meter dash and the 4 x 400 relay races will be run as finals on Saturday.
