FHS soccer teams have mixed results against Greeneview


Fairbanks’ boys and girls soccer teams had split decisions  against Greeneview on Saturday.

The boys kicked their way to a 1-1 deadlock, while the Lady Panthers fell for the first time this season with a 5-1 setback.

The FHS boys won the possession battle for the contest, but couldn’t put the ball in the net during the second half.

Fairbanks took a 1-0 lead near the midway point of the opening stanza.

Greeneview’s keeper came out of the net area to grab the ball.

The Panthers (1-2-2) capitalized on the play with a goal from Gage Wilson.

Diego Shaw was credited with the assist.

Greeneview used a corner kick during the 28th minute to tie the game.

The 1-1 score held to the conclusion of the contest.

Molly Olson tallied the only score for the Lady Panthers.

The goal came on a penalty kick.

FHS keeper Avery Groves notched five saves and Brynne Stanley finished with one.

The girls are 5-1-0 overall on the season and 3-1-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.

Lady Pioneers win

Jonathan Alder’s girls upped their record to 3-3-1 with a 2-0 victory over Mt. Vernon.

Katie Hooley scored both of JA’s goals.

Sophie Zawodny turned away one shot on goal for Alder.
