The Fairbanks varsity volleyball team wrapped up the Ohio Heritage Conference championship on Tuesday with a 25-19, 25-15, 25-17 victory over West Liberty-Salem.
The Lady Panthers (20-1 overall) closed out their 16-0 conference run with a very balance offense, boosted by a strong defensive effort, according to coach Ed Marsman.
Stats for the match were as follows:
-Kelsey Thorbahn: 11/11 serves, eight points, 44/46 passes, 38/39 attacks, 17 kills;
-Kas. Carstensen: 13/15 serves, 11 points, 19/23 attacks, six kills;
-Kai. Carstensen: 9/11 serves, five points, 45/49 sets, 17 assists, 21/21 attacks; 10 kills;
-Grace Tomblin: 11/11 serving, seven points, 41/43 passing;
-Samantha Picklesimer: 12/13 attacks, four kills;
-Piper Huston: 11/11 serving, six points, 19/22 passing;
-Mack Greene: 13/15 attacks, four kills;
-Cassie Lamb: 11/11 serves, seven points, 54/54 sets, 20 assists, 8/10 passing;
-Em Griffey: 8/9 attacks, four kills, four blocks.
Lady Monarchs fall
Marysville’s spikers slipped to 7-14 with an 18-25, 23-25, 13-25 loss at Upper Arlington.
“Despite the loss, we had nice play at the net,” said MHS coach Bethany Bentz.
Carissa Baker led with 10 kills, while Carys Gossett and Kaitlyn DeLauter each added four.
Alyssa Codner had four solo blocks and eight assisted blocks.
Miali Bard assisted on six blocks.
