FMS track teams win at NU

The Fairbanks Middle School boys and girls track and field squads took top honors during Thursday’s North Union Invitational.
The Panther boys ran away from the field by scoring 144 points.
Marion Grant was the runner-up with 86, followed by Ridgemont-81, Pleasant-65, North Union-42, Elgin-33, Village Academy-seven and St. John’s Lutheran-seven.
The margin of victory was much tighter for the Lady Panthers.
They edged Marion Grant for championship honors by a score of 113.33-112.
Pleasant was third with 102.33, followed by North Union-67.33, Columbus School for Girls-35, Village Academy-13, Elgin-eight, St. John’s-four and Ridgemont-two.
The Panther boys placed for points as follows:
-110 hurdles: Jason Daum, second, 20.65; Carter Gerstenberger, third, 20.91;
-100 dash: Nathan Combs, first, 12.34; Brogan Green, second, 12.39;
-1600 run: Caleb Wenger, second, 5:36.73;
– 4 x 200 relay: second in 1:53.45 (Andrew Crowe, Cameron Nisly, Sam Johnson, Jackson Stage);
-200 hurdles: Daum, first, 31.52; Nick Rhea, second, 31.63;
-800 run: Neil Kohls, fifth, 2:40.9;
-Shot put: Dewey Ballard, second, 33-4; Mason Grose, third, 32-11.5;
-Discus: Johnson, third, 92-10; Les Brandel, fourth, 81-2;
-High jump: Gerstenberger, fourth, 4-6; Dominic Kennedy, sixth, 4-2;
-Long jump: Ethan Kise, first, 17-11.25; Crowe, fourth, 15-6.75;
-4 x 400 relay: first in 4:13.72 (Crowe, Wenger, Daum, Kohls);
-200 dash: Green, second, 25.32; Kise, fourth, 26.11;
-4 x 100 relay: first in 47.69, new school record (Green, Combs, Stage, Kise);
-400 dash: Kohls, fifth, 1:04.65; Gerstenberger, seventh, 1:07.53.

-200 dash: Green, first, 29.79;
-Shot put: Melea Duncan, third, 30-5; Tessla Woolum, sixth, 27-8;
