Fairbanks High School graduate Margo Geer added five more medals to her swimming resume with the recently-completed 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.

Geer, who won eight state high school championships as an FHS athlete, captured individual gold and silver medals.

She added three additional gold medals as a member of relay teams.

Geer has specialized in swimming sprint events for a long time.

She won state high school championships in the 50 and 100 freestyles each year as a Lady Panther swimmer.

During the recent Pan Am Games, she earned a gold medal in the 100 freestyle and a silver in the 50 freestyle.

Her championship time in the 100 freestyle was 54.17.

Geer’s clocking of 25.03 earned her the 50 freestyle silver medal.

The gold medal time in that event was 24.88.

She was a member of the 4 x 100 mixed (men and women) freestyle team that won the gold and established a new Pan Am Games record of 3:24.84.

Geer’s other gold medals came with the 4 x 100 women’s freestyle in 3:39.59 and the 4 x 100 women’s medley relay in 3:57.64.

As a result of her places at the Pan Am Games, Geer has once again been named a member of the U.S. National team.

Her next competition will be this fall when she competes in the International Swim League. She will be a member of the LA Current team, which is based in Los Angeles.

Geer will compete during meets in Lewisville, Texas, Budapest, Hungary and Washington D.C.

She will then compete on the Tyr Pro Series during meets that last from January to June.

Once the series season is over, Geer will compete in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games Trials that will be held on June 26 in Omaha, Neb.

The upcoming trials will be her fourth attempt to qualify for the Olympics.

She competed during the trials in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
