The Bunsold Middle School gymnastics team won the district championship on Monday by scoring a school-record 141.35 points. Members of the team are from left, front row, Audrey Spooner, Elise Thompson, Lyla Tabor, Paige Hayes, Ella Bates and Aubrey Smith; back row, Brianna Watkins, Bella Grimm, Makayla McKinney, Kelsey Thrush, Abbi McLaughlin, Abbey Bates and Alexis McCandlish. Top performers for the Lady Monarchs were Grimm, 10th on vault (8.8) and floor exercise (8.75); Bates, seventh on floor (8.875); Tabor, fourth on vault (9.15), first on bars (9.475), seventh on balance beam (9.05), eighth on floor (8.865) and fourth, all-around (36.525); and Watkins, sixth on vault (9.05), second on bars (9.425), fifth on beam (9.1); second on floor (9.25) and second all-around (36.825). The team went unbeaten through the 2019 season.
