The Central District wrestling tournaments concluded Saturday and the Jonathan Alder Pioneers will move on one of their six wrestlers to the state competition.
CHAPMAN
Reece Chapman (106) finished as a district runner-up, losing to Ammaar Salaam of Columbus East.
Chapman fell by a 10-6 decision during the Division II tournament held at Wilmington.
Xavier Pierce (113) advanced into Saturday’s matches after winning his opening round in the wrestlebacks.
He fell to Logan Burns of Hamilton Ross by a 11-2 major decision. That eliminated Pierce from further action.
Michael Boggs (195) found himself in the consolation bracket after dropping his opening contest.
He captured a pair of matches in the wrestlebacks before his season ended with a pinfall loss to Colton Doyle of Clinton-Massie.
Eli Trbovich (120), Josh Proper (126) and Oliver Byerly (132) were eliminated from the tournament on Friday after losing their first two matches.
North Union and Fairbanks concluded their seasons during D-III competition at Heath High School.
The Panthers’ Billy Reed-Bodey took fifth place at 285 pounds after winning a 4-2 decision over Steven Fitzgerald of Reed Eastern.
Reed-Bodey missed out on the state meet by one place, as only top four from each weight class advance.
Reed-Bodey will be an alternate for the state meet for any Central District D-III heavyweight who cannot compete.
Teagan Green (120) won two matches in the wrestlebacks.
His tournament, though, ended with a 15-0 technical fall loss to Brayden Rittenhouse of West Muskingum.
Andrew Halterman (160) also had his season come to a close with a pin fall loss to Chase Goff of Martins Ferry.
NU’s Trace Williams (106) picked up a win in his first match of the wrestlebacks.
His season ended with a pinfall loss to Branden Boggs of Sandy Valley.
Gabe Hansen-Jackson (120) followed suit with a victory in his first match of the consolation rounds.
He lost Corey Keim of Tuscarawas Valley by pinfall.
Skyler Cowgill (170) won his first two matches after falling to the consolation bracket.
Cowgill’s season came to an end with a pinfall loss in 2:33 to Andrew Mcfee of West Muskingum.
The Triad Cardinals only had one wrestler advance to the second day of the Division III Southwest District tournament at Troy High School.
Isaiah Leasure (170) found himself in the wrestlebacks.
Leasure’s tournament ended with a loss to Mason Rhoades of Kenton by pinfall in his opening match of the consolation rounds.
Coleman Hauck (145), Blake Boldman (152) and Dalton Overfield (160) all lost their first two matches on Friday.
The state tournament will begin on Friday at the Jerome Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University.
