The 2021 high school track and field season continues this week for Jonathan Alder athletes.
The Division II regional meet will be held Thursday and Saturday at Lexington High School.
The Pioneers will be represented in a number of events.
Joey Walker will compete in the boys high jump on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
Zachary Russell will spin the discus during boys competition on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The rest of the events are in the running categories for the Pioneers.
The boys 4×800 meter relay team of Jonas Watkins, Matthew Perkey, Sergey Dutt and Colyn McDaniel will run its finals on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Pioneer 4×800 team of Elaina Winslow, Liza Streit, Evie McDaniel and Morgan Hicks will also compete in its finals at that time.
Hicks will run in the girls 1600 and 3200 finals on Saturday.
The 1600 race will go at 12:35 p.m.
The 3200 will be contested at 1:45 p.m.
Dutt will compete in the boys 3200 at 2 p.m.
Madeline Freyhof and Jessica Kelley will respectively line up for the 100 and 400 semifinals on Thursday.
Finals in those events will be held Saturday.
The girls 4×100 (Laura Detweiler, Josilyn Zuro, Hailey Lisska and Madeleine Freyhof), 4×200 (Jessica Kelly, Natalie Heflin, Lisska and Oliva Finke) and the 4×400 (Elaine Winslow, Heflin, Finke and Kelly) relay semifinals will be run Thursday.
The final in those events will be held Saturday.
Pioneer coach Justin Creps said the competition will be extremely tough during the regional.
“I am excited to see how we will stack up against other Division II athletes,” he said.
“I expect our athletes to compete hard and try their best.”
The top four finishers in each regional event will qualify for next week’s state meet.
The Division II state competition will be held at Pickerington North High School.
