Jonathan Alder’s boys hoop squad kept its record unblemished on Tuesday with a 48-44 victory at Columbus Bishop Ready.
The battle was deadlocked at 12-all after the opening stanza and 25-25 by the halftime break.
The Pioneers (10-0) earned a little separation during the third period.
State-ranked (No. 6 in Division II) Alder took a 33-31 edge into the final eight minutes of action.
The free throw line helped JA remain unbeaten.
The Pioneers (who are scheduled to play at London on Friday) hit eight-of-nine from the stripe, while the Silver Knights were five-of-six.
That helped offset a night of struggle from beyond the three-point arc.
JA hit only two-of-12 from three-point land.
Ready, on the other hand, was seven-of-17 from beyond the arc.
Jackson Izzard and Grant Welsch respectively tallied 18 and 10 points for Jonathan Alder.
Taber Headings scored eight, followed by Joey Walker and Gavin Heimlich-both with six.
Panthers top Comets
Fairbanks’ boys were able to penetrate Elgin’s 2-3 zone for a 42-30 triumph.
The Comets sported a couple of players who stand 6-5 and 6-6 on the backside of the alignment.
Fairbanks (7-4), though, earned 13 points down low from Braylon Green to spark the victory.
FHS (which will travel to Cedarville on Friday) held a 7-5 edge after the opening period.
The Panthers took a 20-15 margin at halftime and stretched their lead to 31-20 by the end of the third quarter.
Wyatte Miller scored seven points for Fairbanks, followed by Andy Higinbotham and Trey Good-both with six, Carter Schultz-five, Kyler Wilson-three and Dylan Tobe-two.
