JA, Fairbanks grapplers compete in regionals


Jonathan Alder’s wrestling team competed in the Division II regional duals tournament on Saturday at St. Paris Graham.
The Pioneers, who were the sixth-seeded team, earned a first-round bye and then defeated No. 11 Milton-Union, 42-34.
That victory was followed by a 41-30 triumph over No. 3 London.
The tournament ended for JA during the semifinals when it fell to second-seeded Wauseon, 59-15.

-113: Reece Chapman defeated Andrew Collins, 8-6 in sudden victory;

-160: Brendon Liford toppled Colton Leach, 2:44;

-113: Brennan Nichols won by forfeit;

Panthers fall
Fairbanks’ grapplers lost their lone match in the Division III duals at Mapleton.
After a first-round bye, the No. 12 Panthers were edged by No. 5 Malvern, 42-39.

-160: Andrew Halterman beat Tommy Thompson, 9-4;
-170: Connor McCardle toppled Collin Greene, 1:00;
