Sydney Bourquin and Abby Jones both scored 13 points on Friday as Jonathan Alder’s girls hoopsters tipped off the 2019-20 season with a 45-41 victory at Dublin Jerome.
The Celtics held a 16-13 edge at the end of the opening quarter, but JA tied the contest at 24-all by halftime.
Jerome managed just seven points during the third stanza and the Lady Pioneers (1-0) took a 37-31 lead into the final eight minutes of action.
JA will host Columbus Bishop Ready on Tuesday.

Lady Cats win
Jordyn Hoffman poured in 20 points to lead North Union to a 68-35 drubbing over Ridgemont.
North Union pulled out to a 14-3 margin by the end of the opening set and took a 29-14 lead into the turn.
The Golden Gophers still had trouble hitting the basket as the Lady Cats held a 40-22 advantage by the end of the third quarter.

Marysville’s girls basketball team dropped its opening game of the season.
The Lady Monarchs fell at Hilliard Bradley, 39-26.
MHS trailed 21-13 at halftime and 32-22 by the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Monarchs (0-1) will host Hilliard Darby on Monday.
