The JA Lady Pioneer volleyball team needed four sets to turn back Kenton Ridge on Thursday.
The visiting Cougars won the initial game, 25-22.
Jonathan Alder (8-0), however, came back for victories of 25-9, 25-22, 25-13.
“Hats off to Kenton Ridge,” said Alder coach Joe Ross. “They came out ready to play and we had to respond.”
Ross cited Lizzie Lombardi for her ability to run a stout offense over the final three sets.
Emma Shepherd tallied six ace serves.

NU spikers triumph
North Union’s volleyball team battled Graham to a marathon victory.
NU won 25-13, 21-25, 17-25, 25-18, 15-9.
Journey Blevins tallied 24 kills.
Kaitlyn DeLauter finished with 13 kills and five ace serves as NU improved to 8-1.

Fairbanks defeated Madison Plains, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21.
Kaelynn Sphapmixay tallied five ace serves for the Lady Panthers.
Jayda Rausch blasted eight kills as FHS upped its record to 6-5.

Marysville varsity spikers (4-4) lost to Thomas Worthington.
Scores were 25-23, 17-25, 18-25, 16-25.
