Jonathan Alder battled its way through the Central Buckeye Conference’s Kenton Trail Division track championships to earn second-place finishes in both the girls and boys meets on Friday at Benjamin Logan.
The Lady Pioneers and Bellefontaine were pretty much neck-and-neck the entire meet with the Lady Chieftains taking first place by a margin of 12 points (172-160).
London won the boys meet with a count of 155, while Jonathan Alder totaled 125 points.
Jonathan Alder athletes set several Kenton Trail records during the meet.
The 4×800 team of Brady Tremayne, Greg Nussbaum, Mark Goode and Luke Goode started it off on the first day of the championships.
The foursome took first place in the meet-record time of 8 minutes, 15.61 seconds.
On the second day of the championships, another two relay teams set a new league mark.
Leighton Kordack, Lucas White, Johan Boecki and Cameron Jewell won the 4×100 in the time of 44.11.
Jewell, Ian Odell, Nussbaum and Luke Goode won the 4×400 with a time of 3:28.70.
Jewell also set a record in winning the 200 in the time of 22.18 and Luke Goode led the field in the 800 in the record time of 1:56.88.
Emma Ishmael set a meet record for the girls by winning the 400 in the time of 59.89.
In an ultra-close finish in the boys 110 hurdles, White edged out teammate Ben Jackson to win the event by .003 seconds.
Tremayne took first place in the 3200 in the time of 9:52.11.
Also earning a first-place finish for Lady Pioneers were the 4×800 team of Kalyn Greiner, Addsion Ranly, Ella Luke and Lauren Wynk (10:13.19), Greiner (1600, 5:20.19), Wynk (800, 2:25.82) and Luker (3200, 11:25.08).
North Union competed in the Mad River Division.
The girls finished third overall with 78 points, while the boys were fifth with 68.
Shawnee was the boys champion (157) and Benjamin Logan earned the girls crown (156).
The Wildcats had a pair of first-place finishers in the boys meet.
Griffin Osborne won the 100 in the time of 11.41, while Tyler Huff had a winning time of 10:27.66 in the 3200.
Gabby Lindsey was first in the girls 400 with a time of 1:00.14.
Earlier in the meet, the 4×800 team of Lauren Hall, Savannah Amstutz, Kennedy Ludwig and Lindsey set a Mad River meet record time of 10:13.19.
