FHS athletes compete in D-III
Morgan Hicks of Jonathan Alder placed 12th during Saturday’s Division II girls state cross-country meet.
Competition was held at Fortress Obetz in Columbus.
Hicks, who finished with a time of 18:51.40, helped the Lady Pioneers to an 11th-place team finish. JA tallied 284 points.
That was five notches higher than Alder finished during the 2019 state meet.
There were 177 runners who competed in the race.
Hicks earned a spot on the state awards stand as the top 20 athletes received medals.
Other Lady Pioneer runners finished as follows:
-Eliza Streit, 57th, 20:05.50;
-Maddie Davis, 82nd, 20:28.30;
-Reggan Gray, 127th, 21:25.50;
-Evie McDaniel, 137th, 21:47.10;
-Avery Wink: 152nd, 22:37.60;
-Emma Kennedy, 168th, 23:43.10;
Lexington won the girls state title with 113 points.
Oakwood was the runner-up with 127.
Rounding out the top five in the 20-team race were Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary-135, Woodridge-139 and Waynesville-154.
Fairbanks was represented by two girls during the Division III state race.
Amelia Cameron and Rachael Hoover ran side-by-side for the majority of the race.
Cameron finished in 68th place with a clocking of 20:23.6.
Hoover was right on her heels.
She crossed the finish line in 70th place with a time of 20:24.7.
There were 176 athletes who competed in the race.
