The Jonathan Alder boy’s golf team came out on top after 18 holes of competition during the Central Buckeye Conference Preseason Tournament at Urbana Country Club. The Pioneers scored a 330 to take first place in the tournament on Wednesday.
The schools in the Kenton Trail Division scored as follows: Bellefontaine-354, Shawnee-362, Kenton Ridge-369 and Tecumseh-409. The schools in the Mad River Division scored as follows: Graham-352, Urbana-352, Ben Logan-363, Northwestern-372 and Indian Lake-451.
Hayden Mitchell was the Pioneers’ top scorer with an 80. Joey Petrella and Mychal McKelvey shot an 82. Tyler Hilbert rounded out the team with an 84.
Lady Panthers win NU Invitational
The ladies of Fairbanks beat the competition with a 371 to take first place during the North Union Invitational at Mill Creek Golf Course on Wednesday.
The other teams scored as follows: Columbus School for Girls ‘A’-413, Columbus School for Girls ‘B’-445, Buckeye Valley-456, Jonathan Alder-460, Centerburg-466, North Union-593 and Wellington.
Audrey Brackenridge of Fairbanks was named the medalist of the match with a top score at 81. Natalie Parker carded an 82 and Emily Wilson shot a 90. Rachel Studenmund finished with a 118, Allison Kise scored a 129 and Shelby Jones turned in a 143.
Sarah Harp was the Lady Pioneers’ best golfer with a 103. Maddie McMillen, Abby Doza and Madi Baker each tallied a 119. Olivia McCoy scored a 126, while Kennedy Wilson turned in a 149.
Maddy Snyder notched the best score for the Lady Cats with a 115. Katlyn Saunders finished with a 146. Grace Swank scored a 165 and Cami Craft tallied a 167.
Monarchs struggle at host match
The Monarchs’ ‘A’ squad had stiff competition at the Marysville Invitational at Darby Creek Golf Course on Wednesday. The ‘A’ team was able to break into the top 10 with a 351 of the 15-team match. The MHS ‘B’ squad was also on hand and finished the day with a 385 to take 13th place.
Hilliard Davidson ‘A’ was the winner of the contest with a 309. The remaining teams finished as follows: Olentangy Liberty-311, Fairbanks-316, St. Charles-320, Columbus Academy-320, Big Walnut-327, Hilliard Darby-339, Amherst-347, Hilliard Bradley-349, Mt. Vernon-354, Worthington Christian-355, Mechanicsburg-405 and Hilliard Davidson ‘B’-417.
Chris Bojas was the Monarch ‘A’ team’s best scorer with an 80. Dylan Tremayne tallied an 86. AJ Fisher turned in an 89, while Sameer Parashar rounded the ‘A’ squad with a 96.
Gavin Cossette had the ‘B’ team’s best round with a 93. Justin DeHoff tallied a 96. Alden Prohaska and Ethen Mullins each turned in a 98.
Justin Brackenridge led Fairbanks with a 72, followed by Travis Brake-74, Seth Payne-82, Logan Bocsy-88, Aidan Wilson-94 and Nick Murray-118.
