Sports writers from around the state have given the nod to a couple of local basketball players in naming their Division II girls All-Ohio teams for the 2018-19 season.
The honors were announced late on Wednesday.
Sports writers selected first, second and third teams, along with special and honorable mention lists.
Jonathan Alder High School juniors Sydney Bourquin and Abby Jones were respectively named to the special and honorable mention rosters.
The girls were the top scorers for a Lady Pioneer squad that posted an 18-7 record and finished as a district runner-up.
Bourquin, a 5-7 guard, averaged 12.5 points per game on 46 percent shooting from the field.
She was also proficient from the charity stripe, hitting 73 percent of her shots.
Bourquin averaged four rebounds and six assists per game.
Jones, a 5-10 forward, led Jonathan Alder in scoring with an average of 14.7 points per game.
She tallied nearly five rebounds per game and two assists.
Jones shot 47 percent from the floor, along with 36 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
She was also a sharp-shooter from the free throw line as she knocked down 75 percent from the stripe.
The Lady Pioneer cagers earned All-Ohio consideration based in part on their Central District accolades that were announced a couple of weeks ago.
Bourquin was named to the district’s first-team, while Jones earned second-team accolades.
