When three-point shooters are on, they can make life pretty miserable for the folks wearing an opposing uniform.
The Lady Monarchs had one of their better three-point nights in the past few weeks on Friday as they clubbed Olentangy Berlin, 60-36.
Tinley Graves swished four shots from beyond the arc, while Leah Brown added a trio of trifectas.
In all, MHS sank nine three-balls in upping its record to 4-2.
“We have struggled the past few games shooting the ball,” said Marysville head coach Klarke Ransome. “We hit a few early shots tonight and regained our confidence.”
Graves tickled the twine for three of her trifectas during the opening quarter.
Her last two came after the Bears had switched from a man-to-man to 2-1-2 and 1-3-1 zones.
“We moved the ball well and got shooters open,” said Ransome.
Graves’ third trey sent the Lady Monarchs into the second quarter with a 14-8 lead.
Marysville’s offensive attack didn’t just come from the perimeter.
Madi Sloan hit a couple of key buckets on the low block during the ensuing period.
Her second shot pushed MHS out to its first double-digit lead of 22-12.
Sloan finished the game with eight points.
“Madi played a great game,” said Ransome.
A Berlin charity toss cut into MHS’ margin, but Brown banked in a three-ball right before the halftime buzzer.
That shot sent the Lady Monarchs (who will host Olentangy Orange tonight for Senior Night), into the halftime turn with a 25-13 lead.
Kass Lee scored early in the third set on an assist by Ava Krutowskis.
Graves then tripled in a bucket that pushed the Lady Monarchs out to a 30-14 lead.
The Bears tried to fight back with a few three-pointers of their own during the second half.
Their efforts, however, were just too little, too late.
Marysville took a 38-20 lead into the fourth quarter and coasted to victory.
Everyone on MHS’ roster saw court time and each Lady Monarch player scored.
