The Lady Monarch volleyball squad lost a hard-fought, five-set battle at Hilliard Darby on Thursday.
Marysville dropped the first game 21-25 and then won the next two by respective scores of 27-25, 28-26.
MHS lost the final two games 19-25, 6-15.
Alyssa Codner led MHS’ offensive attack with 11 kills.
Carys Gossett and Madison Fluharty each tallied eight kills.
Sarah Peterson contributed 27 assists, while Ella Morris added 14.
Morgan Schick had 32 digs, followed by Codner with 17 and Rylee Dundon with 14.
The Lady Monarchs (3-2) will look to get back on the winning track Saturday.
MHS will host Delaware Hayes in a tripleheader.
The freshman match will begin at 9 a.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity action.
Bunsold teams sweep
The Bunsold spikers swept Bellefontaine.
The eighth-grade team won 25-22, 16-25, 25-23.
Clarissa Hamilton finished with four kills.
Bella Hackett tallied six kills and four ace serves.
The seventh-grade rolled to a 25-15, 25-18 triumph.
Kylie Levings had eight aces and Paige Barnett recorded four kills for the Monarchs.
