The Lady Monarch varsity spikers played a tough battle in falling against Upper Arlington on Thursday.
MHS won the first set 25-19 and then dropped three games by scores of 22-25, 18-25, 18-25.
Alyssa Codner led Marysville’s offense with 11 kills, while Kaitlyn DeLauter added eight.
Carys Gossett and Larissa Smith combined for seven blocks and were assisted by Rhi Gossett and Madison Fluharty on the right side.
Codner and Morgan Shick each tallied nine digs and Sarah Peterson added eight.
“Although we did not get the win, the girls worked together in fierce determination as we honored our seniors Miali Bard and Rhiannon Gossett on their Senior Night,” said coach Bethany Bentz.
The Lady Monarchs are 6-12 on the season.
FHS tops Triad
Fairbanks upped its record to 15-4 with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-22 over Triad (1-17).
The teams played in Triad’s Volley for the Cure match.
Stats for Panther players were as follows:

-Taylar Sphapmixay: 12 assists; seven kills;
-Cassie Lamb: 49 sets, 21 assists;
-Lizzie Nicol: six points, four kills;
-Jayda Rausch: 14 attacks, six kills;
-Dani Headings: 16-of-17 passing;
-Emma Griffey: six attacks, four kills;
-Brianne Bosworth: five attacks;
Anna Higbee: 13 points, five kills;
-Olivia Vollrath: eight-for-eight serving, 17-of-17 passing.
Triad stats were as follows:
-Kendell Hughes: eight attacks, three points, five digs;
-Holly Alvoid: 12 points;
-Jordyn Unger, six attacks;
-Kelsey Cole; five blocks, seven points;
-Gracie Sheets: 27 passes, seven points, five aces;
-Sidney Louck: three attacks, two points, two digs;
-Bailey Perry: two points and a pair of digs;
-Emma Dorn: seven attacks.
No Fairbanks stats were available at press time.
FHS will host Marysville on Monday.
The Cardinals will play at home on Tuesday against Mechanicsburg.
