Marysville’s varsity softball squad won its opening Ohio Capital Conference Central Division game of the season on Wednesday.
The Lady Monarchs (7-3 overall and 1-0 in the OCC) rolled past Westland, 12-2.
MHS, which will host Central Crossing today, plated four runs in the visitors’ portion of the third inning.
An additional six runs came across during the fifth and sixth.
The Cougars tallied their runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Marysville finished with two runs in the seventh.
Airyanna Mauer pitched the first five innings and notched the victory. She struck out seven, scattered three hits and did not walk a batter.
Izzy Shroyer pitched two innings of relief.
She struck out three, yielded a pair of hits and walked one.
Emily Daniel, Ashley Dunn and Hanna Moffett each had four hits.
Dunn and Chris Ortman each drove in two runs.
Lexi Williams had two hits, while Maurer, Olivia Hall, Ortman and Shroyer each had one hit.
