The first five games of the 2021-22 season have gone extremely well for Fairbanks’ girls basketball team.
The Division III Lady Panthers upped their record to 5-0 on Monday with a 55-41 triumph over D-I Hilliard Davidson.
The Wildcats held a 26-23 edge at halftime.
FHS tightened the defense and limited Davidson to 15 points during the second half.
Fairbanks held a 36-34 margin going into the final quarter of action.
The Lady Panthers (who will host Mechanicsburg on Wednesday) shot a respectable 40% (20-of-49) from the floor.
Davidson, on the other hand, was ice-cold at 15-of-54 for 27%.
Fairbanks also had the upper hand at the charity stripe.
FHS missed only three of its 16 free throws, while Davidson was six-of-seven.
Rebounding was also a big factor for the Lady Panthers.
Fairbanks outleaped the Wildcats, 23-12, with nine of those caroms on the offensive boards.
Macy Miller led the Lady Panthers with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Elaina Lahmers and Reese Poling joined her in double-figure scoring respectively with 13 and 10 points.
Ellie Carter added six points, while Carly Lehman, Anna Poling and Elizabeth Reinhard each tallied two.
Lady Cardinals fall
The early-season difficulties continued for Triad’s girls with Monday’s 54-11 setback at the hands of Fairlawn.
The loss drops the Lady Cardinals to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Cami Allison tallied six points for Triad.
Mia LeMay added three points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Ashlyn McCoy and Abbey Overfield both notched eight rebounds.
The Lady Cardinals will play at Northeastern on Wednesday.
