Fairbanks’ girls soccer team scored the winning goal with less than two minutes to play in turning back Springfield Catholic Central, 2-1, on Thursday.
The contest was deadlocked 0-0 at halftime.
The Irish took a 1-0 lead with a goal during the 11th minute of the second stanza.
The Lady Panthers kept working and tied the game at 1-1 in the 25th minute.
The tying score came when Emma Cook put the ball over the head of the SCC keeper.
FHS (5-0) maintained the momentum and tallied the winning score late in the game.
Ellie Carter tallied the goal on an assist from Molly Olson.
Fairbanks tightened its defense over the final two minutes to preserve the win.
Avery Groves had 11 saves in the net for Fairbanks.
