Jonathan Alder’s softball squad split a couple of games on Saturday during the Der Dutchman Classic on its home field.
The day did not get off to a good start as JA (9-2) dropped a 5-1 verdict to Hilliard Bradley.
Alder capped the event with a 3-2 triumph over Bloom Carroll.
Bradley held a 4-1 lead after four innings and added an insurance run in the sixth.
The Lady Pioneers managed only three hits – one each from Shanna Higgins, Riley Magginis and Natalie Neumeier.
Bradley won the contest despite committing five fielding miscues.
Macy Pruitt started in the circle for Jonathan Alder and was tagged with the loss. She allowed seven hits.
A total of four runs (two earned) were scored on her watch.
Eliza Shuping gave up a pair of hits during two innings of relief work.

Higgins drove in two runs and had a pair of hits during the victory over Bloom Carroll.
Also hitting safely for Alder were Maggie McCoy, Natalie Neumeier and Kylie Petersheim.
Alyssa Miller fanned 13 and walked only two during the complete-game victory.
