Justin Brackenridge of Fairbanks ranked top overall in Monday’s Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament held at Marion Country Club.
Brackenridge carded a 3-over-par 74 to top the field in the 16-18 category. The Fairbanks athlete was able to hold even par trough the first five holes of the course. On hole six, a 387-yard dogleg right, Brackenridge had his first miscue of the day collecting a bogey to go 1-over-par, but the senior golfer was able to rebound quickly and par out the remaining front nine. On the back nine Brackenridge was able to collect par on holes 10 through 14 before stumbling on hole 15 for a bogey. He would pick up one more bogey to finish out his card and tally the win three strokes ahead of the field.
Fellow Fairbanks golfer Travis Brake was able to take fifth in the 16-18 age group with a 6-over-par 80. Brake struggled through the middle of the front nine tallying bogies on holes three, four, five and seven to go 4-over-par, but Brake was able to rebound with a birdie on a 155-yard par three at hole nine to collect a stroke back on the front nine.
Brake was able to collect par on six of the back nine wholes to finish his day with an 80.
In the 13-15 age group the Crowe brothers, Alexander and Andrew, where able to take sixth and seventh with an 89 and 90 respectively.
Alexander was able to collect five pars over the course and collect a stroke on his brother with a birdie at the 310-yard par four at hole 8. Andrew was able to collect par on holes three, 13 and 15 to collect tally a 90.
The Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association will visit the Golf Club of Bucyrus on July 10.
