The Monarchs of Marysville lost their first boys varsity basketball game of the season.
MHS dropped a 64-52 verdict at Olentangy Liberty on Tuesday.
The Patriots took a 13-12 lead after the opening period and then maintained a consistent pace of 17 points during each of the final three quarters.
MHS (which will host Central Crossing on Friday) fell behind 30-22 by halftime and 47-36 at the end of the third quarter.
Jack Christian led Marysville with 16 points and Joey Duke added 11.

Panthers drop game
Fairbanks’ boys hoop squad was tied 57-57 with West Liberty-Salem with 1:50 left to play in the game on Tuesday.
The Panthers couldn’t keep pace down the stretch as the Tigers won 68-59.
The setback dropped FHS (which will host Mechanicsburg on Friday) to 1-2 on the season.
The contest was a tight battle for the first three quarters.
The Tigers led 18-16 after the initial eight minutes.
Braylon Green tossed in seven of his team-high 22 points during the ensuing stanza as FHS took a 31-29 edge at the turn.
The score was tied at 50-all by the end of the third set.
Fairbanks managed only three field goals during the fourth quarter.
Both teams fired up the ball from beyond the three-point arc throughout the game.
West Liberty tallied 24 points from downtown, while the Panthers scored 21.
The difference came at the free throw line.
The Tigers sank 18 charity shots on 24 attempts, while FHS was eight-of-12.

Jaguars have mixed results
The St. John’s boys basketball team won once and dropped two games during recent action.
The Jaguars fell to Liberty-Christian, 44-28.
Leo Rausch led St. John’s with 18 points and Noah Fonner added eight.
St. John’s fell to Grace Christian, 56-24.
The 24 points by the Jaguars were the most that Grace Christian has allowed so far this season, according to St. John’s coach Scott Thrush.
Rausch finished with 12 points and four rebounds.
Fonner added six points.
The Jaguars defeated New Hope, 36-26.
Rausch tallied 18 points and six rebounds, while Lincoln Thrush added 11 points.
