Marysville’s varsity volleyball squad upped its record to 9-6 with Thursday’s five-set victory at Hilliard Darby.
It was the Lady Monarchs’ fourth match in six days.
Scores were 25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 15-9.
Jillian Gardner and Carys Gossett both tallied 10 kills for MHS (which will host Thomas Worthington on Tuesday).
Madison Fluharty, Rylee Dundon and Ella Morris each finished with eight kills.
Morris topped MHS with 19 assists, followed by Caitlin Rigel-14 and Katie Palmer-eight.
Morgan Shick tallied 31 digs, while Morris and Natalie McNicholas each finished with 20.
“We are facing some injuries in key positions and with the number of matches played this week, we needed to be strategic in our attack,” said MHS head coach Bethany Bentz.
“Caitlin Rigel, who was recently brought up to the varsity team from the JV squad, has meshed well with the varsity players and brought her calm demeanor to the court,” she said.
“She has been a strong impact in each position she has played,” said the coach.
“Our senior leadership of Fluharty, Gardner, Jayanti Geertes and Gossett continues to be a key factor and that led us to the victory over Darby.”
