Marysville High School and middle school officials are also pushing the pause button on winter sports.
District officials distributed a letter Friday afternoon noting there will be a temporary stoppage of all extracurricular activities.
That is due to the surge in COVID-19 cases.
The stoppage begins today (Nov. 21) and will run through Monday, Dec. 7.
The stoppage includes practices, weight lifting and conditioning, scrimmages, contests, rehearsals and any other in-person activity.
This is for all programs within the Marysville school district and includes those currently in season and those out of season.
As of Friday, the Ohio Capital Conference Executive Committee, which consists of principals and athletic directors, voted to postpone all high school and middle school conference athletic events.
Those include both divisional and non-divisional sports through Dec. 17.
The letter states the district “has been challenged with a number of positive cases resulting in a high number of quarantines within the athletic and extracurricular programs.”
District administrators stated they felt it was necessary to implement a break from those activities as they are having a direct impact on instruction and academics.
District officials stated they will remain in contact with district residents as to when activities may resume.
