The Lady Monarch varsity softball squad upped its record to 17-2 with an 8-4 triumph over Hilliard Darby on Wednesday.
MHS (4-2 in the Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division) plated five runs over the second and third innings.
Marysville took an 8-1 lead after five frames.
Abby Christian fanned 10 batters and allowed five hits in six innings of work. She walked one.
Tareyn Born struck out three batters in relief.
Abri Schmutz and Ashley Dunn both tallied three hits. They combined for seven RBIs.
Abby Gindlesberger notched a pair of hits.
Lexi Williams, Jalynn Young and Haley Winans each had one hit.

MHS’ jayvees beat Darby, 19-8.
Ashlynn McAdow was the winning pitcher.
She had relief help from Caitlin Regal.
The jayvees rapped 21 hits.
Maya Segner, McAdow and Kamryn Harbold each had three hits.
Abigail Wilkerson smashed a two-run homer in the third.
She had two hits, along with Sydney Calhoon, Mia Carder and Ally Clementz.
Hanna Yu’s base hit in the fifth scored the runs that ended the shortened game.

Panthers win
Fairbanks’ baseball squad climbed above the .500 mark with a 13-3 verdict over Hardin Northern.
The Panthers (9-8) plated 11 runs in the visitors’ portion of the fifth to secure the triumph.
FHS’ Evan Blumenschein walked one and yielded two hits in five innings.
Noah Rausch, Ethan Kise and CJ Swartz each tallied two of the Panthers’ 10 hits.
Also hitting safely were Grant Rausch, Ryker Beaty, Nathan Combs and Brice Phelps.
Swartz drove in three runs.
Kise and Rausch both had two RBIs.
