Marysville High School’s track and field teams endured a three-hour rain delay on Tuesday during the opening day of the Division I district meet at Hilliard Darby.
The MHS boys qualified for Saturday’s finals in five events.
Joey Patterson moved on in the 800 meter run with a prelim time of 2:05.12. That was the 15th (out of 16) qualifying time.
Jacob Ranker advanced in the 300 hurdles as he was clocked in 40.48. He had the fifth-best prelim effort.
Brett Cingle qualified in the 1600 run with a time of 4:50.39. That was the fourth-best prelim time.
Also moving on to the finals were the 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relay teams.
The 4 x 200 team of Ethan Klauda, Ranker, Ricky Spitznagel and Jarret Braun finished with a prelim time of 1:32.79.
The Monarchs were sixth out of eight qualifying teams.
The 4 x 400 foursome of Chris Lambert, Ranker, Klauda and Patterson was timed in 3:28.96. That was the fourth-best qualifying time.
The district meet continues today at 3:15 p.m. with girls field events.
