The 2019 high school football season has been extended for at least a week for a pair of local teams.
The Marysville Monarchs and Jonathan Alder Pioneers have earned berths in the state playoffs.
The Monarchs (6-4) will take to the road for Friday evening’s game.
MHS, which is the No. 8 seed in Region 2 of Division I, will play at No. 1- seeded Springfield (9-1).
This will be Marysville’s first post-season appearance since 2013.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m.
Jonathan Alder, by virtue of its No. 2 seed in Region 11 of Division III, will host a first-round game on its new turf field.
The Pioneers (10-0) will host No. 7 Thornville Sheridan (8-2), also on Friday at 7 p.m.
Alder missed the 2018 post-season as it finished No. 12 in Region 16 of Division IV.
The Pioneers finished with a 6-4 record a year ago.
Jonathan Alder earned its last playoff berth in 2017 when it finished fifth in Region 16.
JA (8-3) lost to Clinton-Massie, 17-7, during the opening round of the post-season two years ago.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its final computer ratings for the season on Sunday afternoon.
The top eight teams in each region earned post-season berths and the top four will host opening-round contests.
Fairbanks and North Union just missed out on the playoffs.
Fairbanks (6-4) placed ninth in Region 24 of Division VI.
The Wildcats (7-3) finished 10th in Region 18 of Division V.
