“We got off to a slow start, but we rallied in strong fashion.”
Those were the words of Marysville High School varsity volleyball coach Bethany Bentz on Saturday.
The Lady Monarchs (4-2) captured a five-set battle against Delaware Hayes.
The Pacers claimed the first two games by scores of 25-23, 25-15.
Marysville battled back to take the next three sets by verdicts of 25-23, 25-21, 15-12.
Jillian Gardner led the Monarchs’ offensive effort with 10 kills.
Carys Gosset and Alyssa Codner each added eight kills.
Ella Morris tallied 19 assists and Katie Palmer contributed 17.
Morgan Schick led the team’s defensive effort with 25 digs, while Rylee Dundon tallied 11.
The Lady Monarchs will host Dublin Jerome on Tuesday during an Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division match.
The contest will mark Senior Night for Marysville.
Fourth-year players Maddie Busch, Alyssa Codner, Megan Melish, Sarah Peterson and Larissa Smith will be honored.
“They have provided four years of dedication and leadership to the Lady Monarch volleyball program,” said Bentz.
