The 2019 high school volleyball regular season will begin on Saturday when Marysville High School hosts its annual Spike-Off tournament.
The Lady Monarchs will play host to seven teams, including Jonathan Alder, Dublin Jerome, Dayton Stivers, Westerville South, Chillicothe, New Albany and Pickerington North.
The main gym and the courts in the MHS field house will be utilized for the tournament that will begin at 9 a.m.
The schedule for opening round matches is as follows:
-Marysville vs. Dayton Stivers, main gym;
-Westerville South vs. Chillicothe, field house gym 2;
-Dublin Jerome vs. New Albany, field house gym 3;
-Jonathan Alder vs. Pickerington North, field house gym 4.
There will be championship round bracket matches for the winners of the opening matches.
Squads that drop their initial contests will be put into the consolation bracket.
Championship matches will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m., utilizing the main gym and field house courts.
Those teams will contend for the first four places in the tournament.
Consolation matches will also begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the field house.
Those teams will battle for fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth places.
The first-place team will receive a trophy.
An All-Tournament squad will also be chosen.
The Lady Monarchs will be led into the tournament by returning lettermen Miali Bard, Alyssa Codner, Kaitlyn DeLauter, Sarah Peterson, Carys Gossett and Rhiannon Gossett.
Jonathan Alder, which won a Division II district championship in 2018, will be guided by veterans McKenzie Wright, Kyli Ricker, Ava Francis and Emma Shepherd.
The tournament will also mark the debut of new Alder head coach Joe Ross.
