Marysville’s boys soccer team upped its record to 10-7 on Wednesday with a Division I tournament sectional championship victory.
The Monarchs, who are the No. 20 seed, rolled to a 4-0 triumph over No. 44 Central Crossing.
“It was a cold night, but that didn’t slow us down,” said MHS head coach Terry Smith.
Marysville advanced to its third district semifinal game in the past four years with the victory.
Ryan Walters led the Monarchs with a pair of goals.
JJ Riggsby and and Nick McIntosh also tallied goals for MHS.
Grant Kaifas finished the game with three saves.
The Monarchs will return to action on Tuesday.
They will play the winner of tonight’s match between top-seeded Worthington Kilbourne and No. 29 Mt. Vernon.
Pioneers fall
Jonathan Alder’s boys dropped a 1-0 verdict to Columbus Bishop Watterson during Division II action.
Matt Stock finished with seven saves for the Pioneers, who were the No. 7 seed.
Watterson went into the match as the ninth-seeded squad.
JA ended the season with a 6-5-5 record.
