Marysville’s boys varsity golf team competed in the Wedgewood High School Showcase Saturday at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club.
The tournament concluded the 2020 campaign for the Monarchs.
“Wedgewood was the nicest and most challenging course the team has competed on this year,” said Marysville coach Aaron Brown. “The field was loaded with perennial state title contenders.”
St. Charles claimed the team championship by shooting six over as a team with a 294.
Olentangy Liberty, Dublin Jerome, Cincinnati Moeller and Olentangy Orange rounded out the top five.
The Monarchs were able to come out on top in their pairing for the day by beating Olentangy, Dublin Scioto and Van Buren.
MHS finished overall in 13th place.
Freshman Andrew Rabe had a strong showing and was in the top 15 individually through his first nine holes.
He came out strong at one over par through nine holes.
Rabe’s hot streak cooled down, but he finished with a score of 81 to pace the Monarchs.
Senior Gavin Cossette played steady all day and carded an 84.
He finished his high school golf career with birdies on his last two holes.
Senior Caden Fulkerson battled all day and also came in with a solid 84.
He is representing Marysville today at the Division I district tournament at Apple Valley Golf Course.
Justin DeHoff, who played well during last week’s sectional tournament, rounded out the Monarchs’ scoring at Wedgewood with a 96.
