Marysville High School officials could know by the end of the week who their choice is to take over the girls varsity basketball program.
The selection was recently reduced to three finalists for the position that was vacated by Brooke Young’s resignation.
Young stepped down after the 2019-20 season. She guided the Lady Monarchs to a 21-25 record during two seasons at the helm.
The three finalists are Marysville High School boys assistant coaches Klarke Ransome and Brock Cunningham and Springfield High School boys assistant coach Terrence Toliver.
Toliver has also served as a girls head coach at London, Xenia and Emmanuel Christian Academy in Springfield.
The finalists have gone through two rounds of interviews, conducted within the social distancing guidelines as mandated due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Our first round of interviews with candidates came via telephone,” said Marysville High School athletic director Joey Day.
“The second round was conducted with Zoom (a social media outlet),” he said. “We will be conducting third interviews with our finalists this week by the same method.”
Day said school officials should be able to make a final decision by the end of the week and then submit that candidate for consideration by the district’s board of education.
“I would imagine the board could make a decision during its May meeting,” said Day.
