The Wildcats of North Union are opening up their stride as the cross-country season comes into midseason.
After winning a Central Buckeye Conference meet earlier in the week, the Wildcats ran to their second victory by capturing the title at the Central Ohio Cross-Country Invitational.
The boys team took first place with a team score of 44. The host school, Bishop Hartley, earned second with a team score of 87.
The Wildcats’ five runners who counted in the scoring each placed in the top 13 in a field of 82 runners.
Adam Brown was the Wildcats’ top runner as he took third with a time of 18:01.
Brennan Griffith finished the 3.1-mile race in a time of 18:32 to take seventh place. Joel Krebehenne finished the race in 18:56 for 10th place, while Gabe Burggraf finished just a tick behind, 18:57, for 11th place.
Dalton Skaggs took 13th place with a time of 19:02.
The remaining Wildcat runners finished as follows:
– Jacob Willis, 20th, 19:46;
– Chris Isler, 55th, 23:33.
The Lady Cats also ran at the Central Ohio meet and placed fifth place with 135 points.
NU finished behind Fairfield Union-21, Hartley-90; Zane Trace-108 and Circleville-119.
The Lady Cats’ Kamryn Rhodes was the top runner with a seventh-place finish in a time of 21:43. Ashlee Kohler finished with a time of 25:33 for 25th place in a field of 62 runners.
The following Lady Cats finished as follows:
– Ashley Hayward, 28th, 26:08;
– Madelyn Liebler, 36th, 27:27;
– Kaylee Smith, 39th, 27:31;
– Libby Ardrey, 43rd, 28:35;
-Katie Cunningham, 50th, 30:17.
The Wildcats will return to action Saturday at the Dublin Jerome Celtic Clash.

Triad runners compete
The Triad cross-country teams competed at the Graham Invitational on Saturday.
Scoring for Triad Middle School girls were Shalyn Smiles, 28th; Paige Davis, 54th; Emma Ferguson, 55th; Aliandra Yorgason, 59th; and Raya Helton, 78th.
Wyatt Robison of Triad was 31st in the boys middle school race. He was followed by Jacob Haser, 45th; and Aaron Roy, 53rd.
Scoring for Triad varsity boys team were Eli O’Brien, 13th, 19:15 (only time reported); Andrew O’Neil, 40th; Tavin Yorgason, 63rd; Zane Robison, 96th; Jacob Warner, 97th; and Klinton Driscol, 106th.
