The North Union boys basketball team opened the 2020-21 season with a 64-54 victory over its neighbors to the north, Ridgemont, on Monday.
Preston Crabtree led the Wildcats in scoring with 18 points. Owen Davis tallied 14, while the Wildcats’ post presence of Zach Vernon picked up 11.
Aaron Krebehenne also added 11, while Trevyn Feasel finished in double figures with 10 points.
The Wildcats will return to action tonight as they host the Chieftains of Bellefontaine.
The JV game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m., with the varsity game to follow.
Lady Cats triumph
The Lady Cats picked up their first win of the season with a 45-43 verdict over Bellefontaine on Monday.
North Union found its groove beyond the arc, going nine-of-16 from three-point land.
Jordyn Hoffman led the charge. She went four-of-seven on trifectas, picking up a team-high 18 points in the process.
Sydney Parish tallied 11 points, nine of which came from beyond the stripe.
Ashlee Collier added six points on a pair of three’s.
Abby Price scored six points, while Taran Moran added four points in the low post.
North Union now sits at 1-1 for the season.
The Lady Cats are scheduled to return to action Wednesday at Kenton Ridge.
