NU remains unbeaten; Day hits late bucket as Wildcats defeat Red Raiders

Cardinal cagers fall
Harley Day hit a basket with 12 seconds left on Tuesday as North Union’s boys hoop squad edged London, 39-38.
The Wildcats remained unbeaten at 11-0 with the victory on the Madison County court.
The Red Raiders held a 38-37 lead until Day connected on his only basket of the contest.
Leading by one, London missed the front end of a one-and-one with 58 seconds remaining to give NU the opportunity to win.
NU held a 12-10 edge after the opening period and took a 22-20 margin at halftime.
The game remained hotly-contested during the third set as North Union took a 33-31 lead into the final eight minutes of action.
North Union

Cardinals fall
Triad’s boys dropped to 1-9 with a 73-61 setback at the hands of Cedarville.
The Cardinals held a 22-21 edge at the end of the opening period and trailed by just a 40-36 count at the turn.
Triad regained the lead at 55-50 by the end of the third set, but tallied just six points during the fourth quarter.
Cedarville

Lady Jaguars win
St. John’s girls hoop squad upped its record to 12-0 with a 31-10 victory over New Hope.
Grace Gorton led the Lady Jaguars with 12 points, while Anna Lynch added 11.
