The 2020-21 high school girls basketball schedule was supposed to open for a trio of local teams Friday evening. Two of those games were not played.
The Lady Panthers of Fairbanks were scheduled to host West Liberty-Salem.
North Union was slated to open the campaign at Ridgemont.
COVID-19 issues put a squash on both of those games.
Fairbanks High School sports have pushed the pause button until at least Nov. 30, as a number of student-athletes have been placed in quarantine.
North Union hoopsters have also been in quarantine due to coronavirus.
Union County-area sports went through the fall season relatively unscathed as far as the virus.
The Lady Monarch volleyball team, however, was in quarantine for 14 days earlier this fall.
That caused the team’s Division I tournament match at Worthington Kilbourne to be pushed back a couple of days.
North Union’s girls game at Ridgemont has been tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 30.
Fairbanks’ game is also tentatively rescheduled for next month.
