The Fairbanks Lady Panthers wasted no time Thursday evening in turning back neighboring Triad in three sets.
The Lady Panthers started the match strong, taking the Lady Cardinals to task with the final score of 25-4.
The second set went much like the first.
The Lady Panthers’ quick offense outlasted Triad with the final score of 25-9.
In a much more improved third set for the Lady Cardinals, the Lady Panthers still came out on top with the final score 25-12.
“I thought we played very well,” Fairbanks head coach Ryanne Ufferman said. “Our hitters, for the most part, made pretty good choices attacking the ball.”
One of the main focal points this year for the Lady Panthers this season is moving without the ball when on the defensive side.
Triad exposed the Lady Panthers on a few occasions, making the next week’s assignments obvious moving forward.
“They caught us off guard a few times,” Ufferman commented. “I do feel our spacing is getting better.”
Fairbanks is set to face-off against Northeastern next Tuesday starting at 7 p.m.
That match will be played at Northeastern.
FHS will follow with a home match against Northwestern on Thursday, 7 p.m.
That will be Senior Night for the Lady Panthers.
