There is just one more week (give or take a couple of days) left in the Pigskin Pickers’ hiatus.
The Pickers selected games through the Ohio State-Michigan contest and then have taken some time off before the big college bowl bonanza.
Next week, we will be making our picks on nearly 40 college bowl games that begin on Dec. 20 and run through Valentine’s Day.
Just joking, but the bowl season does extend into nearly the middle of January.
As we prepare for next week’s bowl picks, the race for the King Picker is still way too close to call.
It’s the closest that most of us can ever remember.
Publisher Kevin Behrens posted the best record during the final week of the regular season.
He went 7-3 and is now tied for first place with reporter Mac Cordell.
Cordell won six of the 10 games during the final week of the regular season.
He and Behrens are tied for first place with matching records of 96-25.
Sports writer Sam Dillon is one step behind their pace.
He slumped to a 5-5 mark during OSU-Michigan week and is 95-26 overall for the season.
I didn’t have one of my better weeks.
As a matter of fact, I pretty much stunk up the joint by going 5-5.
My record is 94-27 for the campaign.
Managing editor Chad Williamson also posted a 5-5 record.
He is currently in last place, but by just a couple of games at 92-29.
Our guest Pickers’ records were as follows:
Dave Laslow of Burger King, Rob Eubanks of Eubanks Electric and Kellie O’Connors of Buckeye Family Pizzeria all went 6-4.
Bob Van Hoose of Bob Van Hoose Garage Doors, Dean Cook of Dean Cook Nationwide Insurance and Scott Weeks of Weeks Plumbing each went 5-5.
