Jonathan Alder dominated the Division II boys track and field championships on Saturday at Westerville South.
Led by six first-place finishes, the Pioneers totaled 112 points to easily outdistance second-place Buckeye Valley, which had 80.
“We are very excited as this is the first district championship in Jonathan Alder boys track and field history,” said head coach Justin Creps.
“We lost one of our best runners, Mark Goode, to injury, so we knew our margin would be razor-thin,” he said. “The team was locked in and focused.”
Brody Tremyane picked up a pair of individual championships while taking part in a winning 4×800 team.
Tremayne won the 1600 (4:39.34) and 3200 (9:58.47).
Earlier in the week, he teamed with Mason Hermiller, Greg Nussbaum and Luke Goode for a winning 4×8 time of 8:03.51.
Cameron Jewell led the field in the 400 in the time of 49.52, while Goode won the 800 with a 1:55.29 clocking.
Jewell and Goode joined Ian Odell and Nussbaum to win the 4×400. They crossed the finish line in 3:27.51.
The top four in each event qualified for the regional meet at Lexington on Thursday and Saturday.
In addition to the first-place finishes, Jonathan Alder reached regional status in six other events.
Jewell was third in the 200 (22.20), Ben Jackson was third in the 110 hurdles (15.68), Lucas White place fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.76), the 4×100 team of Leigh Kordack, White, Johan Boeckl, Carter Kusek was third (44.81), the 4×200 team of Kordack, Nussbaum, Goode, Boeckl was fourth (1:32.49), Nussbaum (third, 800, 1:58.76) and Lincoln Wilson (3200, fourth, 10:24.27)
Earning placement, but not advancing to the regional meet were Jewell (100, fifth, 11.17), Chase Gray (high jump, eighth, 5-6), Kusek (seventh, pole vault, 9-0), Odell (400, sixth, 52.18) and Teagan Headings (1600, sixth, 5:01.38).
North Union, which finished seventh with 43 points, will compete in two regional events.
Carter Skaggs was second in the 300 hurdles in the time of 41.90 and Wyatt Davis was second in the long jump at 20-6.5.
Earning placement points, but not advancing were Griffin Osborne (100, eighth, 11.42), Ben Bonnell (1600, fifth, 4:44.58), Tyler Huff (3200, sixth, 10:49.87), Skaggs (110 hurdles (sixth, 15.82), the 4×100 team of Nick VanHoose, Everett Robinson, Wyatt Arver, Osborne (fifth, 45.17), the 4×200 team of VanHoose, Robinson, Davis, Osborne (fifth, 1:34.38), Braedon Scowden (long jump, fifth 19-9.5) and Owen Hoffer (discus, fifth, 130-9).
The North Union girls team was also at Westerville South in Division II.
The Lady Cats finished seventh with 42 points. Johnstown-Monroe and Buckeye Valley tied for first with 81 points.
Gabby Lindsey, who had earlier qualified for the regional in meet in the long jump, won the 200 in the time of 25.95 and finished third in the 400 meter dash (58.87).
Joining Lindsey at the regional meet at Lexington was Kennedy Ludwig, who finished fourth in the 1600 in the time of 5:26.40.
The Lady Cat 4×800 foursome of Savannah Amstutz, Gabby Lindsey, Lauren Hall and Kennedy Ludwig had earlier qualified with a second-place finish.
Collecting placement points, but not advancing were Lauren Hall (3200, fifth, 12:33.75) and Stella Hancock (100 hurdles, fifth, 17.14).
In the Division I girls meet that was concluded on Saturday at Hilliard Darby, Jonathan Alder had several athletes earn placement points, but they did not qualify for the regional meet at Pickerington North.
Scoring placement points were Emma Ishmael (400, seventh, 400, 1:00.42), Lauren Wynk (800, sixth, 2:24.59), Kalyn Greiner (1600, seventh, 5:24.00) and Ella Luker (3200, sixth, 11:51.70).
Triad competed on Saturday in the Division III Southwest District meet at St. Paris Graham.
Led by Cayla Eaton, the Lady Cardinals finished fourth with 62 points. West Liberty was the meet champion with 144 points.
Eaton won the 100 hurdles (15.46) and the 300 hurdles (47.06) to advance to the regional meet at Troy on Wednesday and Friday.
Eaton also joined Abbey Overfield, Gracie Martin and Ashtyn Millice on the second-place 4×200 team (1:49.12).
Kimber Instine and Mia LeMay had earlier qualified for regional.
LeMay finished second in the shot put (33.9) and third in the discus (108-5) while Instine finished third in the high jump (4-8).
