The Pioneers of Jonathan Alder boy’s golf team opened their 2017 season fighting for second place at the Mike Nesselroad Invitational at Oakhaven Golf Club on Friday.
The Pioneers shot a 164 to claim second, but only after a tie-breaker hole against Delaware Hayes, which also turned in a 164 team score.
Alder was able to win the extra hole to claim second prize.
Neither team could top Big Walnut, which scored a 162. Marysville carded a 174, while Buckeye Valley turned in a 180.
Hayden Mitchell was the top scorer of the Pioneer squad with a 39. Mychal McKelvey and Giuseppe Petrella turned in a 41. Zach Otto shot a 43 to round out the team.
