Jonathan Alder’s boys and girls soccer squads came up short on Senior Night in Plain City as the Pioneers tackled a doubleheader against Kenton Ridge.
The boys tied with the Cougars 2-2 — the third tied match of the season for the Pioneers — and the ladies fell 2-0.
It was a fight to the end for the Pioneers who recorded two goals and two assists on the offensive end of the pitch.
Credit for goals scored on JA included sophomore Connor Boggs and senior Roman Van Rookhuizen.
Helping the offense, the two assists came from sophomore Charlie Aurin and senior Levi Honigford.
While allowing two Cougar goals, senior Dom Dellapina notched a .60 save percentage, stopping three more shots on goal.
On the other side of the field, Kenton Ridges match tying goals came from senior Xane Grigsby and junior James Blackburn. Assisting the Cougars in goals scored were senior Jack Shaffer and senior Tanner Slagle.
For the Lady Pioneers, their Senior Night was a little less than to be desired. Battling the Lady Cougars, JA fell by two scores at the end of regulation.
The Lady Pioneers (6-9 overall, 4-5 in CBC) are slated to compete against the Shawnee Lady Brave (12-2 overall, 8-0 in CBC) on Wednesday, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Shawnee High School.
JA’s boys’ team (5-7-3 overall, ) is also scheduled to face off against the Shawnee Braves (1-9-3 overall, 0-8-1 in CBC) after the girls’ match. starting at 7:15 p.m.
