The Cardinals of Triad knew it was going to be a David verses Goliath type of game going into their Week 6 contest against West Liberty.
The Tigers blanked Triad, 42-0, on Friday.
Prior to the game, Cardinals head coach Zach Winslow said he wanted his defense to get early stops.
Triad was able to hold the Tigers to 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.
However, the game got out of hand in the second period when West Liberty posted 21 points and took a 28-0 lead into the locker room.
The Tigers added two more touchdowns in the third quarter to make it a 42-0 game. The Cardinals struggled offensively, picking up only 147 total yards.
Jordan Simonelli went 10-for-20 for 118 yards and one interception.
The ground game didn’t produce either, with only 29 yards.
Logan McCoy was the Cardinals’ leading rusher with 15 yards and top receiver with 87.
Triad dropped to 2-4 for the season and will host 5-1 Mechanicsburg Friday.
